Derby & Wehttam are currently working on our second major research project. Until it is complete, you are invited to please take a look at our first product, a book called Humor and Moroccan Culture, with links to internet vendors from whom the book may be purchased.
This week we noticed several new mentions of Humor and Moroccan Culture scattered around the web. These are two of our favorites. Take a look! You might find these interesting. We did. Thanks to the site admins and authors.
As of today, HAMC is #78 on the AOL list of top products in humor. That's stellar!
Someone at squareONE made a comic strip based on a joke from HAMC.
We are currently doing research for a new book. We are interviewing Moroccans of all ages and attempting to find people from as many different backgrounds as possible; people raised in the city, in the country, the elderly, the young, the well educated and those who have never been to school.
If you are a Moroccan who is interested in being interviewed, or if you know people who are interested, please contact us for more information. Interviews can be conducted in English or in Moroccan Arabic and generally take from 30 minutes to two hours, depending on the interviewee.
We did a Google search today to check and see how Humor and Moroccan Culture is doing in the rankings. One link was a surprise.
We have finally arrived...our book has been uploaded to a Russian piracy/warez (illegal file-sharing and software copy distribution) website! The site has a ton of illegal stuff on it, so there is no chance we will post a link, but we are officially amused. The book was published using a Creative Commons license, where copying and sharing is legal as long as Matthew Helmke gets credit as the author, and no money is charged for the text. In this case, what has been done is legal. We are not angry...it's like free publicity. We also believe the people downloading and sharing it are not the sort that would actually pay for a copy, so we doubt we are losing any sales with this.
In an odd way, it is a bit of an honor. ?!
We are pleased to note that Humor and Moroccan Culture was recently included in a cultural anthropology and management bibliography. The full list of books included in the Cultural Factors in Business list is available for your perusal.
Thank you to Professor John Hooker from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University for including the book in his bibliography.
It is with great pleasure that we can officially announce that copies of Humor and Moroccan Culture are now available for sale here in Morocco. The price is 120 Dirhams.
More details are available on this page.
The Moroccan edition is still in the works and we hope to have it published by Summer 2007.
